Leinster House was once the home of the Swiss Embassy before being bought by a Saudi billionaire and rented out to Westminster Council as a temporary hostel for homeless people in the borough. In 2013 the owner decided to transform the building into luxury apartments, consequently all the residents had to be rehoused, many being sent far outside of London . As of 2022, the work remains undone and the building remains empty.
